Abstract
| Given a word w(a,b) in the free group of rank 2, and a group G, we get a word map w from G x G to G which sends (g,h) to w(g,h). Common examples are the commutator map (g,h) goes to [g,h] and the power map g goes to g^k. I shall discuss various recent results and conjectures on word maps, with a particular emphasis on words maps on simple groups. |
