I am a lecturer in the Mathematics Department of the University of Auckland (located in office 410, phone 373-7599 ext 5877, complete contact information). My research interests are in approximation theory (and numerical analysis), and I am a member of the New Zealand Approximation Theory Group. I recently returned from Israel / Palestine where I was a postdoctoral fellow at the Technion (Maths). Before that I spent 5 cold years studying at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Maths). I live in Devonport.
This second semester 2009 I am teaching Maths 333 (Analysis in higher dimensions) and Maths 208 (General Mathematics 2).
I used to grow hundreds of carnivorous plants, and I am now starting to collect again. The fabulous Kakapo (by name / news ). The Hashemite Kindom of Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Syria and Egypt.
Despite an accent to the contrary, Shayne is originally from Christchurch (read The Press), New Zealand (drink our wines, go backpacking, nga korero o te wa, our government, parliament in real-time, health, immigration). Hopefully my accent will correct itself, since at the moment in every country in the world people think I am a foreigner. I belong to The Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand (also see DoC).
