Scientific publications on the Lorenz manifold

Animation of the Lorenz manifold rotating about the z-axis
We have published several papers on the Lorenz manifold in scientific journals. Quite a lot of these include animations or come with dedicated multimedia supplements. While these papers do assume a basic calculus background, we believe that they are suitable for a non-specialist audience with an interest in dynamical systems.

Crocheting the Lorenz manifold

The Lorenz manifold as a collection of geodesic level sets
Bernd Krauskopf & Hinke M. Osinga
Nonlinearity 17(1): C1-C6, 2004
This paper and associated animations are accessible subject to subscription, but you can view a copy of the multimedia supplement

Visualizing the structure of chaos in the Lorenz system
Hinke M. Osinga & Bernd Krauskopf
Computers & Graphics 26(5): 815-823, 2002
