2017 Kalman Visiting Fellowship

29 September 2016

The Department of Mathematics is pleased to announce that Dr Andy Hammerlindl from Monash University is the recipient of this year’s Kalman Visiting Fellowship.  He will be hosted by Hinke Osinga.

Dr Hammerlindl's research interests lie in the areas of dynamical systems and ergodic theory. While visiting the University of Auckland he will be working with colleagues in the department on a project regarding the identification and characterisation of chaotic dynamics due to partial hyperbolicity in higher dimensions.

This prestigious visiting position is awarded each year to a “rising star” in mathematics. It is designed to enable them to visit the University of Auckland for a period of several weeks and to participate in the intellectual life of the University.

We would like to thank the Margaret and John Kalman Charitable Trust for generously supporting this Fellowship.
