Lecture guide

Lecture 1: Preliminary rubbish. I couldn't give a real lecture because the blackboard was so crappy. I went immediately and whined to my HOD.

Lecture 2: Sections 1.1, 1.4, 1.4.1. (You should also read 1.2 and 1.3).

Lecture 3: Section 1.4.2 (You should also read 1.4.3)

Lecture 4: Section 1.4.4 (Cooperativity)

Lecture 5: Section 2.6.1 (Nernst potential), 2.6.3 (GHK) and 2.6.4 (Electric circuit model). Read 2.6.2 (Gibbs-Donnan).

Lecture 6: First 1/3 a lecture on osmosis (Section 2.7). The rest a tutorial on revision of biological terms, nondimensionalisation, etc.

Lecture 7: Section 2.8.1. Control of Cell Volume.

Lecture 8: Section 3.3. Electrodiffusion models. Linear and GHK. Read 3.1.

Lecture 9: Tutorial

Lecture 10: Section 3.5. Channel gating

Lecture 11: More channel gating from 3.5

Lecture 12: Tutorial.

Last 2 weeks: We finished channel gating and then did Section 4.1. The Hodgkin-Huxley model. We never got around to doing 4.2 (two variable models), but we covered 4.1 relatively thoroughly.
