| What is the average size of the kernel in a module of matrices? In this talk, we will see that this question is closely related to the enumeration of orbits and conjugacy classes of linear groups. This connection will then allow us to use techniques from asymptotic group theory to analyse generating functions associated with orbit-counting problems. |
