Financial assistance
The University offers an Access Award and Student Allowances to help you fund your study.
University fees for Science students can total between NZ$5,000 and NZ$6,000 each year. It costs between NZ$15,000 and NZ$18,000 to complete a Bachelor of Science in three years. If courses need to be repeated then this cost will increase. Add living expenses and a student relying on student loans could leave university owing well over NZ$20,000.

Aim for A and B passes because:
- you can do it
- it is a good strategy for success
- you are more likely to get scholarships
- you are more likely to be offered student employment
- within the university lecturers will be prepared to give references for jobs.
Apply for Student Allowance if you are eligible. The Student Allowance is funded by the government and the number of awards is unlimited.
Apply for other scholarships. Most students do not bother or think they will not get one so they do not apply. This means that if you apply you have quite a good chance of getting one. Good passes will definitely help.
Become a mentor for the Department of Mathematics or one of the other departments with a Tuakana programme. You need reasonable passes to become a mentor.
Apply for jobs at The University of Auckland such as marking or tutoring in the Department of Mathematics. You will definitely need good grades to become a marker or tutor.
