Title : Gradient and oscillation estimates for parabolic partial differential equations
| Speaker: Julie Clutterbuck Affiliation: ANU Time: 11:00 am Tuesday, 14 June, 2011 Location: CS 279 |
Abstract
| I will describe a novel method of obtaining oscillation and gradient estimates for a large class of parabolic equations, including not only degenerate quasilinear operators such as the p-Laplacian heat flow and mean curvature flow, but also giving new results for the classical heat equation. These estimates are a key part of the recent proof of the gap conjecture. Julie Clutterbuck is an applicant for the Analysis position in the Department; all interested Academic Staff are encouraged to attend. |
