This book contains a collection of
the most recent ideas for learning mathematics from Zoltan Paul Dienes, one of
the outstanding contributors to the field of mathematics education over the
last 50 years. He writes in the introduction to this new book ÒI have been
thinking that it is time to put together some of the ideas that I have evolved
about mathematics and about how it is best approached. I thought that one way
of doing this would be to put together some of my writings of the past decade
or soÉI donÕt really think you need to have any pre-knowledge of mathematics to
read my various contributions...All my contributions are full of practical
things that you can do, indeed that you would be advised to do, if you want to
get the best out of what I have providedÉI think I have managed to leave
behind, as a swan song, a more complete account of what I have considered
important, even exciting, for living this short life of ours! I hope you will
find some excitement, some beauty and perhaps even some mathematics in what
follows. Good hunting!Ó
